SWISS International Air Lines (SWISS) is Switzerland’s national airline. It currently employs around 7,500 people and is headquartered in Basel. The Chairman of the Board of Directors is Bruno Gehrig and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is Harry Hohmeister.
The Swiss national airline and part of the Lufthansa Group, SWISS’s mission is to provide quality air connections between Switzerland, Europe and the rest of the world: 23 intercontinental destinations, 47 cities in Europe, 16 daily flights between Switzerland and Italy for a total of 70 destinations served in 38 countries around the world through its hub in Zurich and the international airports of Basel and Geneva with a fleet of 90 aircraft. SWISS is also a member of Star Alliance.

SWISS has won numerous awards: at the 2010 Business Traveller Awards SWISS took first place in the new category “Best Business Class on routes to North and South America”. SWISS also won the Global Traveler magazine award for First Class design. SWISS was also recently named ‘Best Business Class’ among European airlines at the World Travel Awards 2011. SWISS is also committed, in the long term and at various levels, to the informed use of resources, and believes that a responsible attitude towards the environment should be one of the cornerstones of its corporate culture.
The modern and functional hub in Zurich allows short connection times. Flights to European destinations depart from and arrive at Terminal A, and intercontinental connections from Terminal E. Quick connections between terminals are ensured by the fast, fully electric Skymetro. All routes within the terminal are clearly signposted and easily navigable within minutes. Zurich has repeatedly been awarded the prize of Best Large European Airport.
The SWISS Lounges complete the offer, guaranteeing comfort, tranquillity and relaxation for passengers waiting for their flight, far away from the hustle and bustle of large airports.
