Hupac is the leading company in combined transport through the Swiss Alps and is one of the leading operators in Europe.
The company is committed to ensuring that more and more goods can be transported by rail instead of road, thus helping to shift traffic and protect the environment.
Hupac operates a network of 100 trains per day with connections between Europe’s largest economic areas. In 2012, its traffic volume amounted to approximately 646,000 road consignments. The Hupac Group has around 400 employees working in eleven companies based in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Poland and Russia.
Hupac Ltd was founded in 1967 in Chiasso, where its headquarters are located. Its share capital amounts to CHF 20 million and is divided among 100 shareholders. 72% of the capital belongs to logistics and transport companies, 28% to railway companies. This ensures market proximity and independence from the railways.
Hupac has around 5,900 wagonload modules and, as an independent and neutral combined transport operator, bundles the consignments of several carriers to form complete trains. The trains shuttle between transhipment terminals on long, generally international routes, while rail traction is handled by third-party railway companies. Onsite distribution is carried out by hauliers. Hupac supports the liberalisation of the railways and offers its combined transport services to all transport companies.
